“Is my design good?” The most asked question by designers. You want to make sure that not only is your design something to be proud of but also meets the clients wants and needs. The designers here at iST Digital like to follow a set of principles that will keep your designs on the right track and successful.
When designing for clients, it can sometimes be difficult to find out what they like and how you can put your style of design into something they will love. Whether you are designing for the web, social media, branding, stationery, publishing, etc. it is always good to keep the following in mind:
1. Innovation
Always bring new and exciting ideas to the table, whether it is designing something unique or a new way/method of creating something.
2. Usefulness
Make sure to keep in mind that every element of your graphic design is useful. You do not want to be creating something that has no relevance or get in the way of what you are producing.
3. Aesthetically pleasing
No matter what you design, make sure it looks beautiful. You do not want to be making something for a client that affects them negatively.
4. Understandable
Designing something that makes no sense will just confuse the people who view your design. Make something that not only will attract the viewer but also allow them to be able to either relate or understand what you create.
5. Unobtrusive
Do not be creating something that forces the user to view it, create something that makes the viewer want to see your work.
6. Long Lasting
If you follow trends, you will know that trends do not last. Good design is something that is ageless. (read more)
7. Focus on the Details
Every element you have within your creation needs to be considered critical, do not give less than 100% to every aspect.
8. Limit your Design
Finally, never go overboard with the fancy elements, the glitz and the glamour. Create what is necessary to make a beautiful creation.
